Committees
The GSC Standing Committees are the primary way we work to improve the everyday graduate student experience. Each committee focuses on a topic area, hosts events, collaborates across MIT and abroad, and/or advocates for changes in policy. If you have a particular interest area and are looking to get involved, join a standing committee!
ARC
Academics, Research, & Careers
The committee on Academics, Research, and Careers (ARC) spearheads initiatives and events aimed at improving professional and academic life at MIT. ARC is also responsible for pursuing academic and career-related advocacy issues for the GSC.
External Affairs Board
The EAB advocates for all graduate students at MIT and beyond. The board meets with representatives at all levels of government year-round, and conducts advocacy trips to DC multiple times a year. It also coordinates relations with other universities’ graduate student organizations.

OC
Orientation
The Orientation Committee (OC) welcomes incoming first year graduate students to MIT and provides a conduit for integration into the community. The OC hosts events, both virtual and in-person to help new students know the institute, the grad community, and the area. Students will often make their closest friends during their first month at MIT, during orientation season!
Association of Student Activities
ASA is a joint committee composed of Graduate Student Council and Undergraduate Association members. The goal of ASA is to communicate the needs and interests of student groups to the GSC and UA, to promote student activities on the MIT campus, to serve the common interests of student activities, and to arbitrate conflicting interests.

DEI
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Graduate Student Council (GSC) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEI) works to encourage diversity, achieve equity, and foster inclusion for all MIT community members. It shall also critically consider intersections among groups to facilitate learning, understanding, and unity.
Muddy Charles
The Muddy Charles Pub has been present on the MIT campus since 1968, where it has welcomed everyone from Nobel Laureates to graduate students, played host to entrepreneurs and their start-ups, and enjoyed global exposure. Most of the patrons are MIT graduate students and prices are kept affordable for them.
